about me
My name is Mercedes Santana!
I have lived in the most picturesque seaside town of Homer, Alaska for the past 9 years and I am STILL utterly obsessed with it.
I am what some might call a “Jack (or in my case, ‘Jill’) of All Trades”.
I’ve been working in the operating room for over a decade now as a surgical tech. I’m that girl scrubbed in with the surgeon and when he says “scalpel”, I hand him a scalpel.
I’ve been an Alaska commercial fisherman out on a salmon boat in Bristol Bay, AK for 6 seasons up until last year.
I’ve done my fair share of international travel and have scuba dived (dove?) all over the world.
I am a figure skating coach and have had quite a few girls compete these past couple seasons and I could not be more proud of them.
I love to hike, fly my drone, read, video game, tell shark facts and hang out with my very patient, loving fiancé.
Oh and I have a cat named Nova and I love her.
Throughout all this time though, one passion that has stuck with me is photography. It started out as just shots of nature, primarily mountains and oceans. Then it slowly progressed to photographing people but with my same mountains and oceans as the backdrop. Once I began photographing couples in love, I KNEW I found the thing I want to photograph forever: Humans wildly in love surrounded by Mother Nature.
